Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an innovative treatment used for skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, skin tightening, and improving skin texture. Additionally, PRP is effective in treating scars and hair loss.
PRP involves the use of the patient’s own plasma, which is rich in platelets containing growth factors. These growth factors stimulate the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, supporting the skin's natural healing process.
For optimal results, a PRP facial treatment can be effectively combined with hyaluronic acid fillers. This combination not only improves skin quality and texture but also effectively addresses fine lines and volume loss.
At I Care Clinic in Wezembeek-Oppem (Brussels), PRP treatments are applied to achieve the following results:
PRP treatment is used for various medical and cosmetic purposes and often applied for:
A major advantage of treatment with PRP is that it is a natural treatment and uses your own blood plasma.
This makes the procedure biologically very safe and minimises the risk of allergic reactions or infections. In addition, PRP can be used for various medical and cosmetic conditions.
The main benefits of PRP treatment at a glance:
PRP offers a promising solution to various medical and cosmetic problems by using the body's natural healing powers. It is essential to consult a qualified doctor to determine whether PRP is the right treatment for your specific situation.
Before each procedure, Dr Decoene holds an introductory meeting to identify the patient and his or her needs and to outline an appropriate approach. In preparation, it is also recommended not to take anti-inflammatories for 7 days before and 14 days after treatment and to stop aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) 2 days before treatment.
PRP-behandeling gaat als volgt in zijn werk:
First, we apply an anaesthetic cream. Then a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, similar to a normal blood test.
The blood is centrifuged, giving you filtered plasma that concentrates and separates the platelets from the red blood cells. The growth factors in these platelets stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin in the skin.
The concentrated rich plasma is extracted from the tube.
The concentrated platelets are then injected into the treated area, e.g. the face or scalp.
The remaining plasma is further incorporated with microneedling.
The total duration of this treatment is 60 minutes.
Do not take anti-inflammatory medications (such as ibuprofen) for 7 days before the treatment.
It is normal for the treated area to be slightly swollen and for the skin to feel tight during the first few days.
Do not wear makeup for the first 24 hours after the treatment to prevent infection and irritation.
Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medications for 14 days after the treatment to support the skin’s natural healing process.
You can resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment, as only minor, superficial punctures will be present due to the use of the finest needles available.

With PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma, the face may appear slightly red during the first hour, and the skin may feel warm. After a few hours, the facial skin will once again look radiant and firm. There may also be small bruises, swelling, or mild pain at the injection sites. These spots can be concealed with makeup 24 hours after the PRP injection and will disappear within 2 weeks.
